Ground smoke dust fluids created by emitting fluids from particles method. Keyframed nurbs cirles's scale and parented to the animated car. Particles were emitted from the nurb circles then used the Emitters' s Max Distance to breakup smoke pattern. OpacityPP ramp and lifespan were used to fade in-out, soften and smooth out the smoke. Particles were connected to fluids. Forward Advection was activated to add velocity of smoke. Gradient Force was applied and keyframed to create force along direction of density. Inherited velocity was set using FluidEmitter's Emission Speed at the Replace method. Self Shadow and Real Light with directional lights. Key Field for this shot was Volume Axis Field which was used to breakup dust and control it using Turbulence, Magnitude and Along Axis to get the natural look.
Rendered using Mental Ray with Resolution of 350 and Color Corrected in Nuke.
